All UK Branch Secretaries and SIG Leaders need to complete an Annual Return.
Amongst other things, this covers booking for Scale ModelWorld 2020.
The link to the online Return has been emailed to those who’ve chosen to reply electronically. If you have not received your email, please check that it has not gone to spam (whitelist firstname.lastname@example.org to prevent this happening.)
Paper Returns for those who have asked for them will go out shortly.
In the last issue of the magazine there was a reference to the CAAF sig disbanding, this was a typo on my part and should have read SAAF sig. This should not be confused with the CAFFE sig who are still very active and will be attending SMW. Sorry for any problems caused.
Emyr Butler is proposing a new branch based in South Wales (Cardiff, Newport, Abergavenny and Merthyr Tydfil area). Any interested members should contact him by email email@example.com using “IPMS South Wales Club” in the subject line or telephone him on 01633 670740
An email should be in your inboxes with guidance notes attached to see how this affects you, please check.
Can all branch and sig leaders please check that your returns have been sent in and received please the easiest way of doing this is on the website. Hover the cursor over ‘network’ and a drop down menu appears hover cursor over ‘branches’ or ‘sigs’ and a side menu appears click on returns received and a list of all returns received appears. A similar process will show if your SMW booking has been received under the Scale ModelWorld heading. if your Branch or SIG is not showing and you have not completed your return within the last few days please contact me via the contacts page stating your Branch or SIG name and if you would prefer a paper copy sent out or me to resend the electronic link.
John White (UKLO)
Proposed new branch for North Wales
We are looking for people interested in joining a new scale model club in Wrexham and surrounding areas, we build military related models and our first meet will be just an introduction and overview of our aims for the club, all skills levels/experience welcome.
As this is a brand new group there maybe teething problems so input and ideas from any members who join appreciated.
1st Meeting will be held at the RAFA Wings club, Ruthin Rd, Wrexham on 26th April, from 7pm.
This is a public bar so bring money for drinks.
We can be contacted at Wrexham Wings Model Club on Facebook or email
Can all branch and SIG leaders please check that they have received the annual returns which this year are being sent as an online form by survey monkey unless a paper copy has been requested.
If you have received neither and your branch/SIG is not shown on the website as return received please contact the UKLO and I will arrange to resend in whichever format you require.
The new, online version of the Branch & SIG Annual Return has been emailed to Branch Secretaries and SIG Leaders.
Look out for an email from firstname.lastname@example.org via surveymonkey.com
If you do not receive an email, check that it is not in your spam folder.
If you would prefer a paper version of the Return, then please contact the UK Liaison Officer
Due to personal reasons the leader of this SIG has stood down and the deputy is not able to take the reins at the moment but I am pleased to say that Nathan Robinson has offered to step into the post. His contact details are on the website.
Because I seem to be getting a lot of emails from people worried about the risk assessments I have decided to issue a generic form which can be edited to suit.
As it stands it covers all the basics and just needs a Branch or SIG name adding along with a date.
If your Branch or SIG has any extra risks that you feel should be mentioned then they can be added at the end of the form.
Please note it is a Branch or SIG responsibility to perform a proper risk assessment; simply “tick boxing” the template form is not sufficient.
The form is on the Scale ModelWorld Forms page or can be downloaded directly from here
The deadline for risk assessments to be with the UK Liaison Officer is the 30th June.
Can all Branch and SIG Leaders please make sure that you have one on file before that date?
The listing on the website is up to date and checked daily, so if you have sent a copy in and it has not been entered please contact me as it may have not arrived.
Remember that we now have a new UKLO and that I am quite happy to accept risk assessments by email (contact details here)
John White, UK Liaison Officer

The 2016 Branch & SIG Returns have gone out to the Branch Secretaries and SIG Leaders.
This includes the Branches and SIGs’ bookings for Scale ModelWorld 2016.
Mike Chilestone stepped down some months ago as SIG Leader. Is anyone else prepared to take on the role? If not, unfortunately, the SIG will have to fold. Contact the UKLO if you can help.
The James Bond SIG has changed it’s name to IPMS Movies SIG. This is intended to interest a lot more members and have greater appeal.
A message from Roland Turner, Chairman, IPMS Birmingham
Please note that IPMS Birmingham will be moving to a new venue for our meetings in the New Year:
Longbridge Methodist Church (Reception/Cafe area), 1654/8 Bristol Road South, Longbridge, Birmingham. B45 9TY.
Meetings will continue to take place on the third Sunday of each month (unless rearranged due to holidays or clashes with major shows) but will start half an hour later (3.30 PM rather than 3.00) to allow an earlier user group to vacate the premises.
The venue has a car park for around 20 cars and is well served by public transport.
N.B. Our December meeting will remain at the old venue Kings Heath Community Centre.
