Aberdeen Modellers Society Show 2017

Aberdeen Modellers Society a branch of IPMS UK will host a Model Show and Competition, with a Make and Take and 10 traders and 11 Clubs and SIG’s.

  • Special Bed and Breakfast rate at the hotel.
  • Show dinner on Friday night with guest speaker Mr Trevor Snowden who will cover AIRFIX the Golden Years.

We haven’t had a show in the Granite City for visiting Clubs for over 20 years!!  Any input from the society and the membership is very much welcome and appreciated so please get in touch with Giora Kahanov (Mr.), Show Liaison Officer.

Show will open to the public at 1000-1700. Last admission 1630.    Set up on the day from 0800-0945.

Ticket prices : adult £4, concession £2 and children under 16 go free!    We do not charge for any traders tables!

Competition

  • Registration 1030-1200
  • Judging will take place from 1200-1400 during that time no restriction on public viewing the competition area
  • Competition area open throughout the event !
  • Prizes will be announced at 1630
  • No models to be removed from the competition area until after the awards are complete!
  • Competition classes are as follows:
    1. Aircraft 1/144 up to 1/72
    2. Aircraft 1/48 up to 1/24 and beyond.
    3. Helicopters all scales
    4. Military vehicles all scales
    5. Civilian vehicles all scales
    6. Figures all scales
    7. Ships and submarines all scales
    8. Sci if and fantasy
    9. Dioramas
    10. Miscellaneous.
    11. Junior under 16
  • IPMS rules apply to all classes
  • Entry charge per model 20p
  • Please note that this competition will be judged on the standard of build/ technique used, and as such there will awards for Gold Standard/ Silver Standard/ Bronze Standard.  In addition there will be the awardation of a Trophy for the best Model from all awarded Gold Standard from each class.

Dinner

  • Friday night show dinner with guest speaker (Trevor Snowden.)
  • Complimentary arrival drinks for all those who book
  • We are looking at a three course meal for under £30 with menus to be available by Nov. this year
  • There will be a vegetarian option and free-from option too

Accommodation

  • Rates confirmed: £60 per room based on two sharing including breakfast. £50 for single B&B
  • Booking under Aberdeen Model show is now open (code for booking accommodation is GAMSA when contacting the hotel)

We are still looking for more sponsors and trophies/ prizes for our show so any information, donations etc. will be most welcome!

Finally, we will be supporting a charity during the event details which will be supplied later in 2016.

We also plan to have some World War I re-enactment folk dressed in periods costumes at the show.
